Thai Numbers 1–100

Every number from 1 to 100, with the Thai script, the Thai numeral, and the pronunciation. Bookmark it as a lookup table — then use the drill, because a table you can scroll is not the same as a number you can recognise.

The pattern, in 30 seconds

You do not have to memorise a hundred separate words. Learn 1–10, learn that สิบ is ten, and everything else is assembly: tens word first, then the unit. สามสิบสี่ is literally "three ten four" — 34.

Two exceptions break the pattern, and both appear constantly:

That is the whole system. The rest of this page is just the assembly written out.

Scrolling a table is recognition with the answer already on screen. The drill takes the answer away.

100

NumberThai numeralThaiPronunciation

Above a hundred, Thai keeps going with ร้อย (100), พัน (1,000), then two words English does not have: หมื่น (10,000) and แสน (100,000). Those are covered on the main Thai numbers guide.

How to use this page

  1. Do not read it top to bottom. Nobody learns a hundred numbers by scrolling. Read 1–10 and 11–20 properly, then skim.
  2. Cover the right-hand columns. Look at the number, say the Thai out loud, then check. That act of retrieving is what builds the memory — recognising the answer when you see it does almost nothing.
  3. Practise hearing, not just reading. Most of the time you will meet these numbers spoken, at speed, with no text to fall back on.
  4. Drill the ones you miss. Everyone has a handful that stay slippery — often 6/7, the teens, and anything with เอ็ด.

The drill tracks which numbers you keep missing and brings those back more often.

Questions

How many Thai numbers do I need to memorise?

Around eleven words. Learn 1 to 10 plus สิบ (ten), and every number up to 100 is assembled from them. The only things to memorise separately are the two exceptions, เอ็ด and ยี่.

What is 21 in Thai?

ยี่สิบเอ็ด (yîi-sìp èt). It uses both exceptions at once: ยี่ for the 2 in the tens place and เอ็ด for the trailing 1.

What is 100 in Thai?

หนึ่งร้อย (nèung-róoi). In casual speech the หนึ่ง is often dropped and people just say ร้อย.

Are the Thai numerals still used?

Yes, but not for everything. Thailand uses Arabic numerals for most day-to-day purposes. Thai numerals appear on official documents, temple signage, lottery tickets, and some dual-price boards.

What order do the words go in?

Largest place value first, exactly like English. สี่สิบเจ็ด is "four ten seven" - 47. There is no reversal to worry about.

Is this list free to use?

Yes. The whole site is free, needs no account, and the drill stores progress only on your own device.
